This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices for TAKESAVILLAGE US, LLC (“TakesaVillage” or “takesavillage.com” or “us” or “we”). This Privacy Policy describes how and when TakesaVillage collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our Services. TakesaVillage receives your information through our website and from our partners and other third parties. For example, you send us information when you use TakesaVillage from ourwebsite. When using any of our Services you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation,storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.Irrespective of which country you reside in or supply information from, you authorize TakesaVillage to use your information in the United States and any other country where TakesaVillage operates.

What information do we gather about you?

We collect information from you when you access takesavillage.us and when you subscribe to our email service.

What do we use your information for?

We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website by identifying (1) which parts of our site are most heavily used, and (2) which portion of our audience comes from within the TakesaVillage network. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means that user sessions will be tracked, but the users will remain anonymous.

The email address you provide may be used to send you information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.

User information may be shared with third-party partners to the extent necessary to provide and improve web services or other communications to users. Any third parties who receive user information for this purpose are prohibited from using or sharing user information for any purpose other than providing services to users. 

We may also provide your information to third parties in circumstances where we believe that doing so is necessary or appropriate to: satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request; detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; or protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users or others.

Device Information Collected By Us

We may collect non-personal information about the computer, mobile device or other device you use to access Takesavillage.com, such as IP address, geolocation information, unique device identifiers, browser type, browser language or other information of this nature. We use this information in an aggregate fashion to track access to Takesavillage.com. At no time do we disclose site usage by individual IP addresses. Web server logs are retained on a temporary basis and then deleted from our systems.

Information Shared By Us With Students

When funds are donated to a student, the student knows your account name and the amount that you have pledged. When any amount of money is donated to a student, the student will receive the email address associated with your TakesaVillage account.

Information about Students’ Academic Progress

We do not have access to students’ academic records. This information is protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and only certain persons are legally allowed to access this information.

Each student using TakesaVillage is solely responsible for the content found on student’s profile regarding that student’s academic performance and progress.

What Information is Publically Available

When you create an account, TakesaVillage creates a basic profile page for you containing your account name, the date the account was created, and a list of students you have donated to. Other users of TakesaVillage may view your profile by clicking on your account name; however, the profile is not searchable via search engines on the Internet. 

Each student’s page contains a list of the donors who have contributed. If you desire to keep your donation to that student anonymous, choose a profile name that is different from your actual name.

Donor Verification

Each user is asked to verify his or her identity before using TakesaVillage. Once this has been done, the users profile name will be publicly displayed on his or her account profile.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer (unless you block them). We use cookies to understand and save your preferences for future visits and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future. We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.

Third-Party Cookies

Cookies may be set by an organization other than TakesaVillage. These “third-party cookies” may, for example, originate from websites such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus or other social media services for which TakesaVillage has implemented “plug-ins.” Since the cookie policies of these sites change over time, you should determine their policies by visiting the privacy policy pages of these sites directly.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of third-party websites.

Email Policy

We will not share, sell, rent, swap or authorize any third party to use your email address for commercial purposes without your permission.

We want to communicate with you only if you want to hear from us. We try to keep emails to a minimum and give you the ability to opt out of any marketing communications we send.We will send you email relating to your personal transactions. You will also receive certain marketing email communications, in accordance with your preferences, and from which you may opt out at any time.

We may send you service-related announcements on the rare occasions when it is necessary to do so.

Changing and Modifying Your Information

To modify or delete the personal information you have provided to TakesaVillage, please log in and update your profile. We may retain certain information as required by law or for business purposes. 

On request, we will give you a copy of all the personal information about you that we hold. This information is subject to a fee not exceeding the prescribed fee permitted by law.

People under 18 (or the legal age in your jurisdiction) are not permitted to use TakesaVillage on their own, and so this privacy policy makes no provision for their use of TakesaVillage. Information that you submit through the Services may be transferred to countries other than where you reside (for example, to our servers in the United States). We will protect all information we receive in accordance with this privacy policy.

User Generated Content (Including Comments and Profiles)

We may offer opportunities for you to engage in discussions. Any information you disclose in your submission of comments, including name, email, website, and the comment itself is property of TakesaVillage and visible on internal servers. Comments are up to the discretion and approval of TakesaVillage moderators.

If you choose to use TakesaVillage’s mobile sites and applications, any of the features of these sites, including but not limited to RSS, API, software and other downloads (collectively, "the Services"), you will be agreeing to abide by all of the terms and conditions of these Terms of Service between you and TakesaVillage. 

TakesaVillage reserves the right to reject or remove any content from appearing on its site for any reason.

Information Protection

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the appropriate use of information we gather about you, we have taken commercially reasonable steps to protect the information. We will never share your payment information, passwords, IP address, and phone number.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure from hackers or technical malfunctions.

Changes to this Policy

This Privacy Policy may be amended from time to time. Any such changes will be posted on this page. The effective date of this policy is January 22, 2016.
